Black At It

I admit, the last quarter of 2014 had me in a bit of a rut. Blogging becomes very hard when you're enveloped in heavy negativity, and that's exactly where my mind was. I was a self-deprecating hot mess of a human, and it took some deep soul searching to realize that I am who I am.
...and here I am.
Whenever I get this way, my outward appearance reflects my emotions and I begin to purge heavily. Around this time last year, I lost my grandmother and donated 75% of my wardrobe. This year was no different. My closet is now mostly devoid of color and of some great vintage finds I am definitely regretting getting rid of :(
Anywho, I decided my wardrobe needed some revamping. Whenever I see my girl Sarah of Curvily she always looks great, and whenever I ask where she got her piece from it's more than often from Gwynnie Bee. So, I decided to join, knowing that it was a subscription service where I could have items shipped directly to my door and I could swap them out to try new things. And if I like the pieces? I can buy them for a very discounted price from the Gwynnie Bee store.
My first item from Gwynnie Bee is this coat by X-Two Fashion and I absolutely LOVE it. Every winter, I end up with some variation of a wrap coat because my hips are wide and so is my bust, and no coat every buttons or zips over both. Amazingly, this Vedika coat does and is actually roomy enough for me to wear sweaters underneath with no hassle. I live!
Of course, with an all-black wardrobe, I love to find interesting ways to play with my textures and silhouettes. That's what New Yorkers do, right? This black and gold clutch from Fashion to Figure complemented my black and gold loafers from June Ambrose for HSN and textured H&M pants perfectly.
I'm back, baby! lol.
