Lane Bryant's #PLUSISEQUAL Body Positivity Campaign

Styled by Maleeka Moss

In case you haven’t heard, there’s a Body Positivity storm brewing within the fashion industry right now.  In the September issue of Vogue, the most influential of the year, lays the #PlusIsEqual campaign. Right there, deadsmack in the middle, stand six glorious curvy silhouettes that leaves you guessing…”who is responsible for this??”.
Turns out, it’s Lane Bryant (as most have guessed).; the same brand responsible for Ashley Graham’s beautiful body all over the subway for the #ImNoAngel body positive campaign earlier this year. Lane Bryant is here to make a statement, and I am absolutely here for every word of it.
To push forward this campaign, I was tasked with the challenge of collaborating with stylist Maleeka Moss to put together three looks inspired by my fashion sense. If you know me, you know I love to prove that you can be fully clothed and still be sexy while curvy, so I loved the idea! Here are the styles we landed on:
Being a born and bred New Yorker, I love to pull inspiration from both the neighborhoods and the people within them. To me, NYC fashion has a timeless feel, so I love to incorporate trends into my wardrobe that have a classic feel. A crisp white button down, the perfect olive jacket and a coordinating vest are pieces that I feel work for almost every season here. Trend pieces like distressed denim, camouflage motifs, and sequins bring them up a notch. My style is very much reflective of my attitude – classic but pulled up riiiight to the edge.
To see more expressions of style, visit Chante and Alissa. I love how we were able to take the same brand and put our own spin on it. And check out the #PlusIsEqual site on September 14th for a very special surprise!
This post was sponsored by Lane Bryant through their partnership with POPSUGAR. While I was compensated to write a blog post about Lane Bryant through POPSUGAR, all opinions are my own.
