Hotel Tonight Review: The Williamsburg Hotel
Hotel Tonight has become one of my favorite apps, as I'm always looking for new places to shoot editorials in NYC (and occasionally take staycations). Temps here have been sub-zero but my work doesn't end, so when I saw a low price for The Williamsburg Hotel I couldn't pass it up. It's so unique and chic.
The Williamsburg Hotel is pretty new to the Williamburg neighborhood - it's only been open a couple of months. It definitely wasn't there the last time I stopped by, so I didn't quite know what to expect. Though there are photos of the rooms on The Williamsburg Hotel's site, I still couldn't really wrap my mind around it but I booked anyway out of faith.
...honestly, this place is cool as hell. Firstly, upon arrival you're escorted through huge wooden (and very unassuming doors) and you're greeted by the smell of a bustling bar and an ornate restaurant. The next part gets tricky, as you have to get on the elevator and go down a flight to check-in. Semi-weird, but not a deterrent.
Once checked in, we were taken to our rooms. As we walked down the dark corridors we caught a glimpse of the room numbers. Shadows were being projected onto the walls because of spotlights shining on brass numerals - we were feeling like we were somewhere we shouldn't have been, which added to the allure of it all.
Then we stepped into this:
We stayed in a Queen room (with no terrace), and quite honestly for two people of our size it was a bit cramped. But dammit if there weren't enough beautiful details to distract us! The juxtaposition of the tufted leather headboard, the boarding, the wood flooring and the turquoise tile with brass fixtures sends you into sensory overload. It screams accessible luxury, I feel like I could have stayed here forever.
But...I do not recommend staying here with someone that you are not close with. There is very, very little shower privacy!
Overall, the neighborhood is wonderful - Brooklyn Bowl and the Wythe Hotel are right across the street, and the Kinfolk collective is on the same block. At night it's a bar and a club, and by day it's a coffeeshop and boutique - none of which are a disturbance while at the hotel. We heard nothing!
And to boot, a rooftop bar and pool will be opening this summer. We'll definitely be back.
