Hotel Review: Perry Lane Hotel, Savannah GA

2018 is the year I've laid claim to traveling domestically to places I've never been. This summer, my family reunion was in Hilton Head, SC so I took a quick 30-min drive to Savannah afterwards. Magical isn't even the word, and my stay at the new Perry Lane Hotel made this trip even more special.perry lane savannah review 8Some backstory: when I first booked this trip, I'd booked a very quaint and beautiful airBNB. Then Nia Wilson happened. I'd already been slightly on edge as a single Black woman traveling alone to the South, but the incident with Nia Wilson really amplified my anxiety. So in a last-minute switch 48 hours before my trip, I bit the bullet and ate the airBNB cancellation fee and hopped over to Hotel Tonight to book a hotel. ANY hotel. And because I'm a Hotel Tonight pro at this point, I can spot a great hotel from a mile away. Perry Lane Hotel did not disappoint.

What are some of the things I loved about Perry Lane Hotel?

Location

The hotel is right in the middle of downtown Savannah. I was within walking distance of shopping at City Market, a cone at Leopold's Ice Cream, the beauty of Forsyth Park (and Chippewa Square is right up the street and it's equally as beautiful), Poseidon Spa for a great massage...I could just keep going on and on. And there are bikes readily available for you to grab if you'd prefer that. perry lane savannah review 11

It's Just So Damn Posh

Perry Lane Hotel made me feel bougie AF, and that's saying a lot. I felt like a Southern princess! As I pulled into the cobblestone rode and entered the hotel, I was handed a glass of champagne. The room was even better. They were so stately and perfectly Savannah with wooden panels, marble bathrooms, and the softest king size bed I've ever slept in. The parlors in the lobby are also gorgeous (pictured above).  Overall, Perry Lane Hotel is a modern take on Southern charm and it was just perfect for my solo trip.

You can see a tour of my room (before I flooded it, haha) here.

The Restaurants

There's the rooftop bar Peregrin, the Wayward bar off of the lobby and Emporium Kitchen & Wine Market. They were all SO amazing. It rained a lot during my trip, so I ended up enjoying all three places. I had an incredible dinner fit for a queen at Emporium (and I ordered room service from there during an insane thunderstorm), the best burger for lunch at the Wayward Bar, and caught a quick drink at Peregrin. I would recommend dining at any of these places even if you're not staying at Perry Lane Hotel because they're that good.perry lane savannah review 1

The Staff

The staff at Perry Lane Hotel is extremely cool, and not in an obnoxious, fake kind of way. They are such chill, down-to-earth people but with just enough edge where you know you can ask them where the party is at that night. They all knew my name and greeted me when I walked through the hotel, and they were so great to just chat it up with. The hotel staff was also insanely gracious when I flooded my room (it's a long story) and offered an upgrade. The Perry Lane Hotel staff just made me feel really safe, especially as a solo traveler I just felt like they had me if anything went wrong.

Overall, I loved my stay at Perry Lane Hotel and absolutely plan on staying there again. I'd rate it 5/5 stars. I couldn't have asked for a better hotel for my solo vacation!
