How to Transition Summer Dresses to Fall

This post was done in collaboration with Macy's and City Chic - but trust, all opinions are my own. #MacysLove #sponsored

What I love most about Fall Fashion about the creativity of layering. It's always so much fun going through my closet and figuring out new ways to wear old things. My favorite challenge? What to wear with summer dresses in the Fall.

There are lots of ways to do this, but the most foolproof method is throwing a jacket over it. For this outfit, I draped my favorite fringe denim jacket over this beautiful black polka burnout dress from City Chic via Macy's. Both denim and black are considered neutrals in my wardrobe, so pairing them makes for a perfect look. Add a pop of red (my go-to!) for a bold look that says so much while doing so little.

Other ways I like to wear my summer dresses in the Fall? A turtleneck keeps you warm with a pair of boots and tights. A slipdress always looks chic with that look. Turtlenecks are always tried and true. There's also the jeans method - a dress over denim is a multi-layered look that just works. Belting the dress adds dimension and creates a silhouette to an otherwise bulky outfit.
