Extra Wide Width Boots Shopping
Typically, I don’t believe in miracles - but after my most recent wide width boots shopping experience, they do indeed happen.
If there’s ever been a product harder to shop for than clothes, it’s undoubtedly shoes for me. Having already inherited flat feet (meaning I have no arch), shoes “with support” were the only kinds I were allowed with my mother policing my outfits. Since I were a kid, I embraced being a sneaker head and made kicks my shoe of choice simply out of ease.

Up until now, I’ve never owned a pair of heeled boots because the size of my feet and my 20 inch calf circumference restricted me to very few (and extremely distasteful) options. And because no one in my family had carried flat and wide feet like I did, I’ve never been referred to a place that appealed to my style, let alone my shoe size…until Lane Bryant.
For a long time, I’d disregarded Lane Bryant as a place for shoes because it’s where my mom shopped (because let’s be real, no one wants to dress like their mom when you’re under the age of 25). Naturally, I opposed the store and its options for extra wide width boots. I shared my struggle with Kelly and lo and behold, she found a cute pair right off the bat. I was immediately sold on the floral detailing on the back, the low block heel, and the fact that they were knee high.
When I tell you I’ve been clicking, clacking, and stomping on any surface that makes noise against my heels since?! I’ve definitely annoyed some people within my vicinity. In the words of Beyonce The Great, “I’m feelin’ myself”. And that’s an emotion every one of every size deserves to feel.
Now that I’ve strutted these Lane Bryant boots around time for some time, I’ve become more open to options that don’t necessarily target my age group; and that’s the cool thing about fashion. With just the right amount of imagination and styling, you can make anything ageless.
