Spring Refresh: Living Room

Spring is here and you know what thatmeans? Spring refreshes. This usually applies to my wardrobe only, but now thatI’m living on my own it’s also meant refreshing my home. Working from home, Iam constantly staring at these four walls so I decided to tszuj it up. Someways I’ve done that?

1 | Get a new couch.

Burrow reached out to me a few months ago for a new couch, and at the time I was going through lots of transitions. I was feeling stagnant and welcomed the change. I’d seen their fun advertising on the subway and had been curious about them for a while. Within a week, I had a new couch! It was delivered in six boxes and I clicked everything together in thirty minutes while watching a re-run of “This Is Us”. I’ve put together all of the furniture in my house myself, and this couch was no different. Luckily, the Burrow system is very easy to follow and the couch is very lightweight.

My favorite thing about this couch is the size of it. I’ve become a lot more social these days, and my last couch (see it here) didn’t allow for more than two people to sit comfortably. The other night, I had two friends over for movie night and the three of us fell asleep (with wiggle room!) without a problem. I’m ready for all of the game nights and Friday night impromptu dinner parties this summer.

One thing I didn’t account for whenchoosing this couch? Pet hair. The woven fabric traps my cat’s hair like noother, so it’s been a pretty high-maintenance situation. But totally worth itbecause 1) Nola is happy 2) my friends are happy 3) I have a new huge, comfycouch in my apartment.

Another note: I would recommend getting Velcro for theback cushions if you’re worried about them moving. They’re not attached to thecouch. I personally enjoy watching Nola fall behind the cushions so I haven’t changedit, haha.

2 | Get Wallpaper.

When I first moved into this space, I was so adamant about having white walls. I’d wanted them for so long in my apartment in New Jersey, so when I got here I was hard pressed to keep them bare. But as the year went on, I realized even the most minute of things on the wall drove me crazy. I decided the walls needed a change, but didn’t want to do something as permanent as paint. So I checked on my favorite site for wall prints, Society6, and realized they had self-adhesive wall murals! I found this print that matches the rest of the vibe of my apartment and voila, my vibe has changed. My once boring walls got a chic update without overbearing the space. Much to my surprise, it actually makes the room look bigger.

You can find this and other wallpapers from Society6 here.

3 | Get Storage space.

I’lldig deeper into this on Instagram next week, but getting storage space whilebeing in a NYC apartment is changing the game for me. Being able to free upspace (bye bye fur coats!) actually has cleared up space in my mind. I feellike I can breathe again.

What are some of your tips for Spring refreshes?
