Tips for beating Hat Hair
This post is done in collaboration with Pantene. All opinions expressed are my own.
One of my favorite things about Fall is being able to fully indulge in my hat collection, and that often involves me pulling my natural hair into a slicked back bun. As chic as it is, the tugging, brushing and product takes a toll on my hair. At my last trim, my hairdresser mentioned there being some split ends in the middle of my head, so I’ve been trying to think of the best ways to remedy them. In my research I’ve found some great tips and products.
Pantene challenged me to restore my hair with the Pantene Pro-V Intense Rescue Shots (after rocking this slicked back look (with all the brushing, pulling and heat I have put my hair through). So, I took them up on the offer!
- Styling my hair: I had to make sure my hair was completely dry before pulling it into a slicked back bun. I like to use my dryer brush right out of the shower to completely dry my hair before pulling it back. One thing you may not realize: even if your hair is dry, the gel you put in your hair dampens it! Use your blow dryer to do a quick heat blast. Once I was done, I was able to go out on the town and enjoy any fall happening without worry because I knew that once my fun was over, I could confidently repair my hair
- Use Rescue Shots during Wash Day: Pantene Pro-V Intense Rescue Shots are a lifesaver and require absolutely no effort for banging results. Squeeze the contents of one tube onto your wet hair after shampooing, apply the product from root to tip focusing on the damaged areas, leave in for 30 seconds, rinse for 30 seconds (don’t over rinse) et voila. My hair bounced back from its dry, brittle state in just one minute.
- Deep Condition at least once a week: The Intense Rescue Shots is a deep conditioning treatment, so you only need to apply it weekly. My go-to solution is deep-conditioning on my self-care days (yenno, the day where I don’t do any work and veg out on the couch). If you want to go the old school way, you can do the “baggie” method with a shopping bag, or try a deep conditioning heat cap
Do you have any other tips for fighting hat hair? I sent this question to one of my group chats and my girlfriends had some pretty great hacks! Would love to hear yours.
