COVERGIRL: Solange Knowles for Lucky Magazine

One of my favorite girls, Solange Knowles, is on the cover of Lucky Magazine for August 2014 and I'm beyond excited. Outside of there being a beautiful woman of color on the cover, it's refreshing to see read a piece where Solange is not being positioned as a violent lunatic.
For months, Solange Knowles was a villain. An uncontrollable alcoholic that no one could tame, even her ex-drug dealer brother-in-law. Reading about her different style phases (including harajuku and rastafari) and how she tried to wear a tutu and tap shoes to her father's corporate function gave me a chuckle. Hearing that Sol was a bright, colorful vision on a bike in New Orleans made me feel good. Knowing that she's enjoying having space and ingesting the culture, working on a new album - I'm happy.

Though Solange does make a mention of the elevator incident, "that thing" as she refers to it, she moves on quickly from it.

Thank you, Evan Chen, for doing what no one has done for months. Thank you for making Solange human again.
