HOME INSPO: Nicolette Mason, ISpyDIY and Elaine Welteroth
As I begin to transition into this new life with my husband, I've been noticing one thing that has been sorely neglected - our home. Since we moved into our new apartment ten months ago, we've been so focused on furthering our careers, we've let our home go bare because of an endless stream of work. But with the accrual of shiny wedding gifts comes an overturning of old things, right? These next three ladies speak to the soul of me - I'm obsessed with their aesthetics and have found pieces of all of their collections that I can carry with me as I peruse Home Depot, vintage shops, and the never-ending supply of online options. Elaine Welteroth, Beauty Editor for Teen Vogue, is a mastermind. Her cooler-than-cool vibe appeals to the edgy New Yorker in me. Bicoastal Nicolette is the dreamer in me, airy yet grounded in dark statement pieces, and Jenni of ISpyDIY does all of the things I'd love to do. She has an immaculate eye for the big picture, and makes bold yet subtle movements which I love. So what have I taken from all of them?GROUNDED IN BLACK AND WHITE
If you know anything about my aesthetic, you know I LOVE black and white combinations. What I'm picking up is that you can use it to ground in multiple ways - whether it's a black statement wall, black and white with a pop of color, or vice versa. All I know is that I must. have. BW. combo.!
LIVE WALLS
Gone are the days of hanging potted plants from the ceiling à la grandma's house - with the rich assortment of mounted pots available now, there are possibilities galore with live walls. They breathe (literally!) new air into a space, and physically tending to your home will make it feel even more like a place to call your own.
BAR CARTS, FTW
Bar carts are as adult as they get, right? I remember growing up watching HGTV and everyone was always DIY'ing one of these. What else is a great way to say "hey, come hang out here!"? Loving Jenni's graphic representation of each liquor. I'm looking forward to actually scouring the 'net/garage sales to find the perfect one to fix up.
What are some of your home inspirations?? Anyone remodeling and care to share?
