Breaking All of the Style Rules

I am constantly challenging the idea of what a plus size body "should" be wearing. At my job, the running joke has become "Is that piece shapeless and black? Minimalist? Kelly will love it!". For years, online and print media (fashion bloggers included, I'm guilty) have force fed these "style rules" that plus-size women need to belt everything to define their waists and give themselves shape and you must wear all black to appear smaller, etc. etc.

Y'all, f*ck that. Wear what you want. I've embraced oversized silhouettes in different textures and cuts and my closet has become a sea of black, but far from boring.

I love finding brands that work for me. Universal Standard has become my go-to for interesting wardrobe staples. My oversized coat is my "Olsen Twin moment", especially when I throw on a pair of oversized shades. The Geneva Dress is my go-to for the weekdays, and I add an obi belt and heels for the weekend. Plus-Size-Minimalism-Universal-Standard-SweaterHow are you challenging your style?
