McCarren Hotel Pool Party

Every now and then, it's okay to play hooky. With the impending doom of summer's end, my BFF and I decided we needed some chill vitamin D time. We ran to Brooklyn for some R&R at McCarren Hotel & Pool.

And when I say we had a good time?! I honestly was expecting something of Miami proportions, with loud banging music, greased up bodies, and lurky men. Instead there were couples, older women hanging out with a good read, and girl gangs with the same thing we had in mind.

A couple of hours into our afternoon, while we hung poolside sipping prosecco and scooping hummus I literally screamed out "has it only been two hours?!". I'd felt so relaxed in the saltwater pool, it felt like an eternity had gone by. Then we were approached by a couple of groups of ladies - lawyers, social workers, teachers, designers - all looking to escape before September hit.

We waded in the pool for a few more hours before we had to scoot for birthday dinners and festivals. I must say - McCarren does not appear to be strict about the switch from Day to Night Swim, so you can really get your money's worth. I'm glad we made it out before the end of summer daze.
