Shirt Dress for Fall

Transitional weather is so weird. One day it's hot, one day it's cold. Most days it's somewhere in-between. What's perfect for confused weather? A shirt dress. Long sleeves for chills? Check. Short length for intermittent gusts of hot air? Check. A gazillion ways to style for Fall weather? Check and check.Shirt: Gwynnie Bee | Jeans: Lane Bryant

When I saw this shirt dress on the Gwynnie Bee site, I had to have it. The mix of colors and pattern scream "I'm classic and sophisticated, but I swear I'm fun!", which is a nice, cozy place to be - IMO. One of the many joys of the Gwynnie Bee service is getting to try out funky items like this without the commitment of purchasing. Sold, sold, sold.

Now this shirt dress is definitely too short to wear bare legged. My dumps-like-a-truck-truck-truck won't allow it. And honestly, even tights would be a stretch for me, especially to wear to work. But this piece feels so traditionally "office" to me, especially the collar, so I had to figure it out. I paired with my favorite wide-leg jean from Lane Bryant (they are literally heaven!) for supreme 70's vibes.

...no really. I walked into work and the first thing my co-worker said was "You look like 1970's #BlackGirlMagic". Obviously, this is a small victory, haha.

Style Tip: Don't be afraid to play with proportions! Long tops with long wide-leg pants automatically read chic. You can pull the look together even more by adding a belt.
