Fall 2016 Beauty Favorites
Lipsticks (from top to bottom): Marc Jacobs | H&M | Wet N Wild | Face Stockholm
I'm not particularly a beauty maven, but I really love lipstick and I've been prioritizing skincare (both face and body) as I get older. As the seasons change, my skin dries out and my lipstick gets darker and darker. I'm sharing some of my favorites.
(From l. to r.) Dr. Jart Water Drop | Face Stockholm Makeup Remover | Avene Cleanance Cleansing Gel
Listen to me, please - it is imperative that you wash your face at night. I used to think I only had time for makeup removal cloths until I found cleansing oils and gels. They pick up dirt and excess much more effectively. Avene Cleanance Cleansing Gel, in particular, cleans SO well with just a dime-sized dollop against a wet face. My face is washed within seconds and I follow up with Dr.Jart's moisturizer - the cooling, ultra-moisturizing sensation is beyond words.(From l. to r.) H&M Eyeshadow Palette | Maybelline Foundation | Benefit Mascara | No7 Primer
With great skincare comes less product to put on your face, so I'm keeping it pretty minimal these days. Maybelline's Matte and Poreless foundation is light-to-medium coverage that I like to help even out my tone, and I use the H&M "Ready, Set, Glow" palette for a light sparkle on the eyes. Underneath it all is a moisturizing primer from drugstore fave No7. Some NYX Sculpt in the cheeks and highlight under the eyes to brighten. I have very, very dry skin. When I was younger, bullies called me "alligator skin" because of the scales on my legs. When the weather gets colder, I always transition to oils - lotions never do anything for me. I apply right out of the shower and my skin is dry by the time I hit the subway. Mixed Chicks Replenishing Oil is viscous and thick so I use it out of the shower and I carry body oil from & Other Stories in my purse. Both smell absolutely insane - I've received compliments on both.
