Some Holiday Cheer

Well, this past week has been a dramatic turn of events, hasn't it? With all that is happening, I'd completely forgotten Thanksgiving was next week! Somehow time slipped through our fingers and it's the holidays again so I'm breaking out the good stuff - the ruffles, the bows, and the fun jewelry.

Being a December baby, the holidays are my favorite time of year. I love to dress up, drink hot cider, string the lights and play festive music. As I get older, "dressing up" takes on a new form with understated statements. A frill here, some glitz there, a pop of color there...

Style Tip: This style tip is making a comeback, styling your warm-weather jumpsuits for colder temps by layering a long-sleeved top underneath. This time, I opted for a collared shirt for a polished look. Keeping it fun, I added on a cutesy bow neck tie and dangling statement earrings for a look you can wear from your desk to your office holiday party.

My rule of thumb with outfits? Pick one or two things to make your statement. This works, in theory. Which means I have a jewelry closet full of dainty bracelets and rings when I want my earrings to speak for themselves. I try not to over-accessorize. In the wise words of Coco Chanel (whose store I happen to be standing in front of, oh the irony) "Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off". Minimal pieces from Baublebar always do the trick when I'm trying to play it cool.Looking for joy amongst the sadness. We will be alright, y'all.
