I woke up this morning feeling really great about this week! How about you? Not sure what's going on in the lunar universe, but this week is feeling like a fresh start. Ready for some musings?

I think this may be a contender with Arie for the most boring season ever. Hopefully she doesn't end up with the wrong person like he did. 🙃

TIRED OF BEING SWAGGER JACKED? Lately, especially in my line of work, I've seen a lot of ideas being stolen...and not in an "imitation is the greatest form of flattery" kind of way. Monroe Steele talks about how she deals when someone higher in the ranks swipes her ideas for themselves. I think this is something we all can relate to, no matter the field.
JAMILA WOODS' NEW "LEGACY LEGACY" IS A MASTERPIECE. Jamila Woods is by far one of my favorite singers out right now. Her scratchy voice is full of soul, and her activism riffs deeply throughout her lyrics. Pitchfork sat with her to talk through the new album, with each song dedicated to a cornerstone figure in either feminism or Black activism. My favorite song on the album is SONIA, with a very powerful mid-song poetry verse from Nitty Scott.
GUT HEALTH VIA RECIPES. As I'm on a continued quest to make sure my face stays clear, I've realized what I eat greatly affects my acne. Gut health is the foremost culprit, and I'm a big fan of fermented foods. I've been looking at various recipes for kimchi, and this kimchi soup from NY Times came up and I bookmarked it. Perfect for this rainy week in NYC.
NYC SPECIALIZED HS ELITISM and JUMAANE WILLIAMS. As a graduate of the Bronx High School of Science, I can attest to the vigor of the entrance test. I prepped for three years afterschool and on weekends, attending grueling programs and taking tons of practice tests. I love Jumaane's perspective and his determination to make the tests as fair as possible...or at the very least make the resources accessible to families that wouldn't otherwise have them. Keep fighting the good fight, Jumaane.
