FALL 2019 TRENDS: SUITING
Having a non-traditional 9-to-5 job, I've steered clear of suiting the past couple of years. My wardrobe used to be heavily laden with blazers and slacks, but I just don't have the need for them anymore. Suits came in hot for Fall 2019 trend reporting, and I knew it was time to revisit old faithful.
After digging around, I found that there were some really great options for plus specifically that are so much more fun than the last time I shopped for corporate gear. There's lots of candy colors, prints, and silhouettes now. The suit game has changed!
One of my favorite plus size retailers, Eloquii, leads the pack when it comes to non-traditional suiting. The have found cuts that work for every body type and the stick to it. They've created this blazer and the kady pant in so many variations it's kind of insane. There's a suit option for whatever whimsy you have at Eloquii.
Fun Tips for Styling Suits:
- Go crazy with your tops! I know we've been told we should be wearing classic white button down shirts and tanks under our suit jackets, but there's so much more fun you can have outside of that. I decided to pair this look with lingerie, and you can do turtlenecks (or cropped turtlenecks!), leather bralettes, or an exaggerated neckline (think ruffles like here). I also like to do tops with longer sleeves that are fun (again think ruffles or pearls, etc) to give the suit some flair.
- Suprise them with the shoes. One of my favorite ways to wear a suit is with white Converse, like I did here. There's also glitzy boots in high shines and metallics, and heels with great embellishments like the pair I'm wearing.
- Accessorize, Accesorize! As with any outfit, I say accessorize to the max. A suit is just a suit until you wear a cowboy hat, crazy earrings, or the biggest rings you can find! Life is too short for boring.
