What's In My Makeup Bag: Beach Vacation

Over the weekend, one of my readers (hey @aja_mo!) sent a DM asking what makeup she should take with her for a beach vacation. Whenever I post a trip on Instagram I get this inquiry, so I'm sharing what I packed for Mexico.
When traveling, I keep my makeup minimal. Hydration and moisture take top priority, then the basic essentials follow.

Since my trip to Paris in October, I've been using oil to moisturize my face instead of cream and it's done wonders for my skin. I carried Josie Maran Argan Oil because it's perfect for my face after a warm shower, but also great for my cuticles and my hair. It's a multipurpose oil packed in a tiny bottle. I also packed Josie Maran Surreal Skin Argan Finishing Balm because it helps seal the moisture in and it has a subtle glow to it, which is perfect for sunkissed skin. Peach & Lily's Lagom Cellup Gel to Water Cleanser is an amazing cleanser for morning refreshers before you run out for breakfast. The light citrusy smell reminds you of vacay while you're on vacay.

I like to go for naturally flushed cheeks when I'm sitting out in the sun, so I opted for Benefit's benetint (truth be told, I left my usual blush at home and was scrambling for a replacement in the airport. Luckily, Benefit had a vending machine in my terminal and I found this gem. SO happy I did!). It has the consistency of an oil polish, which makes it fun to apply and super easy to move around your cheek. I swipe Benefit's Watts Up highlighter on my t-zone, brow bones, cupid's bow and cheek bone to accentuate where the sun has hit me. Then my usual Benefit They're Real mascara to make my eyes pop.

Keeping my lips moisturized is a forever-issue for me, but is especially important when I'm on vacation and sitting out in the sun all day. I always keep Burt's Bees Ultra Conditioning Lip Balm in my bag, and carried Wet N' Wild's Liquid Catsuit in Rebel Rose for a neutral pop on dressier nights. It's a velvet matte, but layered over the lip balm it never gets dry.

Your nails can take a beating between laying out in the sun and moving through water. I carry Essie's Instant Dry Oil to act as a cuticle aid, and Ginger & Liz nail polish in Demi Cup for nail color touch ups because nothing is prettier to me than light-colored nails in the sand.
What are some of your favorite beauty products to take on vacation?
